ANAMBRA STAKEHOLDERS ARE ALARMED BY AN INCREASE IN RAPE AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASES
Stakeholders in Anambra State have protested the state's increasing rates of rape, domestic violence, and gender-based violence.
This is a response to recent instances of gender-based violence in the State, some of which involved minors and some of which ended in fatalities.
The tale of a 13-year-old girl being defiled by four men in Nkpor, close to the commercial metropolis of Onitsha, broke early in the week. The males, who were described as street urchins, allegedly got into a fight with a neighbor who denounced the majority of their heinous crimes in the region, including drug usage, theft, and molestation of young girls.
The men, instead of feeling regret for what had happened, were offended by the man's boldness in trying to warn them, and they determined to harm the man's daughter for having the guts to warn them. The names that were provided were Nwa awo, Sunday, Emelie, and Chiedu.
