Wike, Ugwuanyi, Ortom, Makinde, and other governors meet in Enugu to discuss a plan to support Peter Obi

Five governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, met in Enugu State on Sunday ahead of the February 2023 presidential elections.

According to reports, the discussion focused on how to deliver Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, in 2023.

The governors are: Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ikeazu of Abia State, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.

According to an insider, the five governors were persuaded to support Peter Obi's candidacy because they are uneasy with the PDP's flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.

The governors' decision may be linked to the crisis rocking the main opposition party.

Despite efforts by party stakeholders to defuse the crisis, which was sparked by the confrontation between Wike and the former vice president, the crisis had devolved.
