Other rallies, including Peter Obi's, will not be permitted at the Lekki tollgate, according to police

The security agency issued the following statement in response:

RALLYING IS NOT ALLOWED AT THE LEKKI TOLL GATE.

It is imperative to emphasize that no rally of any kind will be permitted at the Lekki Toll gate tomorrow, October 1, 2022.

This emphasis has become necessary in order to enlighten Nigerians who may be misled into approaching the toll gate.

A competent court has ruled that no one is permitted to congregate at the Lekki Toll gate for any reason.

In accordance with its mandate to protect life and property, the Lagos State Police Command, led by CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, will leave no stone unturned in ensuring full compliance with the court order and the establishment of adequate security in the state.

While the Command is not opposed to the people's right to free assembly, association, and expression, it will also uphold its mandate of ensuring that no person or group of people is allowed to infringe on the fundamental human rights of others, particularly the right to freedom of movement and the right to dignity of human persons, especially under the guise of a rally or procession.

As a result, anyone found flouting the court order or infringing on the rights of other Nigerians will be dealt with according to the law.

Meanwhile, CP Alabi encourages all peace-loving citizens to carry out their legal responsibilities without fear of harassment or intimidation, emphasizing that adequate security assets have been strategically deployed.
