I WON'T SUPPORT ATIKU UNLESS PDP ENSURE FAIRNESS - MAKINDE
Governor Seyi Makinde
The governor of Oyo State, Mr. Seyi Makinde, stated Wednesday that he would not endorse the PDP's Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for president until the party ensured fairness.
In the last three and a half years, Makinde's administration has been able to offer accelerated development to the state, and he added that this accomplishment supports his reelection campaign.
He said in a live interview on a radio station in Ibadan that he deserved to be re-elected by the state's citizens due to the administration's successes in the four service points of education, security, health, and economic growth through agriculture and infrastructure.
When asked about the national PDP turmoil, Makinde stated he would only back Atiku if the party took the necessary action.
Before attempting to impose its system on the nation, the party, in his opinion, must show that it is capable of ensuring fairness and justice inside its own system.
Makinde insisted that if elected again in 2023, he would implement Omituntun 2.0, which would focus on providing sustainable development to the state's citizens.
He stated: "When I was campaigning for election in 2018, brought out a roadmap and promised the people that it was meant for accelerated development of Oyo State. Now, based on what we have experienced, we have brought another roadmap, but this time round, it is for sustainable development 2023-2027."
Makinde said that his government's concept of infrastructure development has resulted in the completion or construction of more than 500 kilometers of road as evidence of how it has been able to produce infrastructure that targets its economic expansion goal.
He asserted that the administration launched an initiative to connect the state's five zones with high-quality road infrastructure as part of its commitment to strengthening the state's economy.
Makinde observed that each of these zones "have their uniqueness and what they are bringing to the table for the overall development of the state."
