EKITI DJ ARRESTED FOR IMPERSONATING SINGER PORTABLE TO THE TUNE OF #790K TO SCAM NIGHTCLUB OWNER

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Famotemi Toluwani Timothy, an Ekiti state-based Disc Jockey, for allegedly impersonating Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable.


According to reports, the suspect was apprehended on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

The EFCC's spokesperson "Timothy, a native of Igede-Ekiti in Ifelodun LGA of Ekiti State, allegedly opened an Instagram account with the name "Zazoo Omolalomi Portable" where he claimed to be the singer," Wilson Uwujaren said in a statement on Tuesday, October 4.

According to investigations, the suspect met one of his victims, Adebayo Adedimeji Lukman, who owns a club in Offa, Kwara State, on social media and introduced himself as "Portable" before agreeing to perform at the club for N1 million.

"Timothy, a native of Igede-Ekiti in Ifelodun LGA of Ekiti State, allegedly opened an Instagram account with the name "Zazoo Omolalomi Portable" where he claimed to be the singer," said EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren in a statement on Tuesday, October 4.


According to investigations, the suspect met one of his victims, Adebayo Adedimeji Lukman, who owns a club in Offa, Kwara State, on social media and introduced himself as "Portable" before agreeing to perform at the club for N1 million.

The suspect requested that N790,000 be paid into a bank account number provided by the suspect before the event.

However, the self-styled artiste "Portable" did not attend the event on February 18, 2022, and eventually blocked all means of communication with the suspect."
