THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ADVISES NIGERIANS VISITING THE UAE ON THE NEW VISA REGIME

The federal government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has advised Nigerians traveling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to follow the UAE government's new visa regime. The UAE has stopped issuing tourist visas to people under the age of 40, except for those applying with their families, under the new visa regime.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa explains why UAE authorities turned back some Nigerians with valid visas at the airport.

She mentioned that the UAE government had recently issued new guidelines for visa applications for certain age groups. She claims that "many Nigerians are now attempting to skirt the rules by applying for family visas." She claims they obtain the visas, travel alone, and are turned away at the airport.

She also stated that a six-month genuine bank statement, accommodation, and return ticket are required, but that some Nigerians do not provide these upon arrival and are turned away.
