POLICE ARREST A KIDNAPPER
"I only have N200k." A kidnapping suspect tells police that his gang killed two people after collecting a N13 million ransom
Nasiru Musa, 31, was arrested by Niger State police in connection with the killing of two kidnapped victims after a N13 million ransom was paid in Tegina town, Rafi LGA.
The suspect, who allegedly conspired with several others to kidnap the victims and demand ransom, was apprehended on August 28.
According to reports, the deceased victims, Aminu Sani Garba, a health worker, and Kasimu Lawan, a factory worker, were among four residents kidnapped by bandits on November 14, 2021, at a water factory in Tegina, Rafi.
"It would be recalled that on 14/11/2021 at about 2000hrs, suspected armed bandits invaded Tegina town, Rafi LGA shooting sporadically and abducted four persons into Kagara forest, including one Aminu Garba and others," the command's spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said in a statement on Tuesday, September 6.
Upon receiving this information, the Command mobilized and dispatched a combined team of tactical squad members from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the FIB tactical squad, and vigilantes to the area.
As a result of the sustained operational pressure on the hoodlums, two victims later escaped from the abductors, while the remaining two others, including Aminu Garba, remained in captivity.
Unfortunately, the kidnappers killed the remaining two victims, Aminu Garba and another, after collecting a ransom of N13 million.
However, on 29/08/2022, based on technical intelligence, one Nasiru Musa, 30yrs'm' of Tegina, was arrested in connection with the crime within Tegina town.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to conspiring with one Lelwi, who connected him with one Gwaskan-Daji, also on the run, and several others to kidnap the victims and collect the ransom.
He claimed that he only received N200,000 from the crime, and that he planned to kidnap the Council Chairman of Rafi LGA before his arrest."
