NIGERIAN STUDENT, ABDULSAMAD ABUBAKAR, WHO WAS DECLARED MISSING IN CYPRUS

A Nigerian student reported missing in Cyprus was actually arrested for assaulting his girlfriend and is now in custody according to reports

Abdulsamad Abubakar, a 28-year-old student who went missing in Northern Cyprus, is said to have been arrested for assaulting his girlfriend by police.

Cyprus News247 reports that "Samad was arrested about a month ago for assaulting his girlfriend; he is currently in custody. According to neighbor statements, Samad and his girlfriend always argue and fight at their residence, prompting the police to visit them on a regular basis.

According to a neighbor's statement, Samad was arguing with an officer on the day he called his mother. Resisting an officer arrest is a criminal offense. His landlord revealed that after his arrest, he'll be deported back to Nigeria, adding that he's fine and nothing is wrong with him."

The Nigerian man was reported missing after calling his mother for assistance in Cyprus.

Abdulsamad Abubakar, a 28-year-old Nigerian student, has gone missing in Northern Cyprus.

On Friday, Abdulsamad cried out to NIDCOM management for assistance.

She stated that she has not known her son's whereabouts or heard any news from him or the school authorities since that call on August 2, 2022 from an unknown number with her son wailing and pleading for help.

She was at a loss for what to do and contacted the agent who had secured her son's admission and travel documents, but he was also unavailable. "I was advised to write a petition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Consular and Legal Department, which I did before someone informed me that Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa advised Nigerians to be wary of Northern Cyprus, so I reached out to her for assistance."
