Everton manager Frank Lampard has reacted to the retirement of former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.

Lampard recalled playing alongside Mikel Obi in Chelsea's UEFA Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich in 2012.

The Englishman also wished the former Super Eagles captain the best of luck in the coming months.

Lampard wrote in an Instagram post: "Congratulations on your amazing career mate. A pleasure playing next to you and sharing that beautiful 120 minutes in Munich with you.

Mikel Obi announced his retirement from football in a post on his Instagram account on Tuesday.
