IMPEACHED OGUN DEPUTY SPEAKER IS TO BLAME FOR MY ORDEAL, ACCORDING TO OLUOMO

Dare Kadiri

Olakunle Oluomo, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, has named his former Deputy Dare Kadiri, as one of the individuals responsible for his ordeals with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

"While denying the recent EFCC charges against him, Oluomo stated, "I will want the court to decide because the hyperbolic nature of the petitions written by the impeached former Deputy Speaker, Dare Kadiri, was also reflected in the charges."

Oluomo stated in a statement on Friday, following the completion of his bail conditions, that he was not the Accounting Officer of the Assembly. In addition, the House only has one bank account.

"By law, I am not the House Accounting Officer. To emphasize, the House has only one bank account under my leadership since 2019, through which running costs and allowances are paid directly into the bank accounts of individual Honourable members and House staff."

"Charges 10 and 11 are for the Eighth Legislature before I became Speaker," Oluomo clarified.

He went on to say that the refusal to honor the EFCC's initial invitation was due to the anti-graft agency's method, which he claims violates Section 36 of the Constitution.

"We challenged it in court, which is public knowledge because it was widely reported, but the EFCC refused to wait for the decision in that case before proceeding, despite having joined issues with us in court.

"I have always been disciplined and upright in my position, conduct, and interactions with others, and I will continue to be myself with truth and honor as my goal. I want to thank everyone who has shown love and concern for me.
