"I BUY THEM FOR N50,000 EACH" "REVEREND SISTER" ARRESTED IN RIVERS WITH 15 ABDUCTED CHILDREN
Maureen Wechinwu, a suspected child trafficker apprehended in Rivers State with 15 abducted children, has admitted to 'buying' them.
The 44-year-old suspect, who claims to be a Reverend Sister, was apprehended for alleged child trefficking at Omuigwe Abuja Phase II, Aluu, in Ikwerre LGA.
Speaking to reporters at the police station on Tuesday, September 6, the suspect claimed that she was a Reverend Sister trained in England and that her orphanage is legitimate.
"Some of the children are the children of doctors. Mr. Victor has brought the others to me. He sometimes comes with them in pairs. Miss Alice delivered two to me. Alice suggested that I take them because I am a beginner.
When Victor brings children, he will occasionally demand money. However, due to the pressure on me, I occasionally give N50,000, N60,000, and N100,000, "She stated.
The children rescued from the suspected trafficker were aged seven to nine, according to the Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, who added that preliminary investigations revealed that the children were picked up from various parts of the South-South states and sold.
