BOY WAS ARRESTED FOR MURDERING HIS 90-YEAR-OLD FATHER

A boy was arrested for murdering his 90-year-old father in order to gain control of his bank account.

Kwara state police have arrested Ibrahim Hassan, 23, for allegedly killing his 40-year-old father, Sabi Ibrahim, a retired army corporal, in the Ajibesin area, along Okolowo Ilorin, in order to gain access to his bank account.

According to the state police command's spokesperson, SP Okansanmi Ajayi, who confirmed this to newsmen, on August 5, one Aishat (brahim) went to the police station and reported that her 90-year-old father was missing.

He stated that an investigation into the matter resulted in the arrest of Ibrahim, the biological son of the missing elderly man "During the investigation, the suspect admitted to giving his father a paracetamol injection mixed with other substances, which caused him to become weak and dizzy. He did this after returning from the bank, where he took his father to renew and collect his ATM card.

He took his father on a borrowed motorcycle to an isolated unfinished building and strangled him to death, then dug a shallow grave in which he buried his father after dispossessing him of the ATM card they went to the bank to collect "Ajayi stated.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspect fled to Kaduna state and began withdrawing funds from his late father's account. "He withdrew a total of N59,000, claiming that the purpose of his father's death was to deprive him of the ATM card because he already knew the pin; he also sold the borrowed motorcycle and eloped to Kaduna state, where he was eventually arrested."
