Graham Potter has been officially named Chelsea's new manager, succeeding Thomas Tuchel, who was fired on Wednesday.

He has signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge after three years with Brighton & Hove Albion, who he leaves fourth in the Premier League.

Chelsea reportedly had to pay 20 million euros to lure him away from Brighton & Hove Albion.

"Chelsea are delighted to welcome Graham Potter as our new head coach, who has joined us on a five-year contract to bring his progressive football and innovative coaching to the club," the Blues announced on Thursday.

"Potter is one of the game's most exciting coaches, having begun his career in Sweden before bringing his talents to the English game four seasons ago."

"The 47-year-old is educated to degree level in disciplines beyond sport and has combined these experiences to forge a collaborative, forward-thinking approach while developing attacking and winning football.

"That was evident during his time at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he helped the club achieve its highest-ever league finish last season."

"Along the way, he earned praise for his winning brand of football on the south coast, while demonstrating tactical and formation flexibility to stay one step ahead of opponents."

The coach, for his part, expressed his excitement about working with the club's new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly.

"I am incredibly proud and excited to be able to represent Chelsea, this fantastic football club," he began.

"I am very excited to work with Chelsea's new ownership group and look forward to meeting and working with the exciting group of players, as well as developing a team and culture that our incredible fans can be proud of."

"I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Brighton & Hove Albion for providing me with this opportunity, particularly Tony Bloom and all of the players, staff, and supporters for their unwavering support throughout my time at the club."
