53-YEAR-OLD CIVIL SERVANT HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH DEFRAUDING 25 CHURCH MEMBERS

Mrs Oyawoye Olajumoke Fafemi, 53, has been charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with defrauding 23 church members seeking employment.

The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Commission arraigned her before Justice Mohammed Sani of the Federal High Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Monday, September 26.


The suspect, a member of the Kwara State Ministry of Finance, was charged with four counts of employment fraud and Hajj pilgrimage fraud.

According to the EFCC's spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, the defendant was accused of collecting various sums of money from 23 members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Offa, Kwara State, under the guise of assisting them in obtaining employment with the Kwara State Civil Service Commission and Federal Government parastatals, which she never fulfilled.
