RUGIPO STUDENT DIES AFTER BEING SHOT BY AMOTEKUN OPERATIVES IN ONDO STATE
An ND 1 student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, Ondo State, identified as Alayori Ademola, has passed on.
According to multiple sources, the deceased was allegedly shot on his leg by Amotekun operatives and kept in their custody for four days.
"According to a voice note recorded by Ademola before his demise, he said the Amotekun operatives stormed his house and harassed him and his brothers. They were beaten before he was shot on the leg by the officers. He noted that the Amotekun officers took him to their office and kept him in a cell for days.
Ademola revealed he was d¥mped in a cell with a dog and left on the floor for the dog to lick his wounds. He was kept there until a family member came to plead for his release. He was quickly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where he died.
This is a sad occurrence for us at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic. We urge the Ondo State Government to act on this matter. Already, the students are embarking on a protest demanding justice over the death of Ademola," a source familiar with the incident said.
