ONE SHOT DEAD AS BANDITS INVADE KADUNA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

One person was on Saturday afternoon, March 26, shot deed when bandits invaded the International Airport in Kaduna State.

The deceased, an aviation security guard, was shot deed when the bandits opened fire on workers and passengers, around 12:30 pm.

It was gathered that the incident led to the temporary shutdown of the airport. A flight scheduled for Lagos was about to take off when the incident happened.

Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, confirmed the unfortunate incident in a statement on Saturday.

According to newsmen, he said, "Security forces have reported that an attack by armed bandits was repelled in the vicinity of the Kaduna International Airport.

Troops stationed within and around the airport responded and repelled the attackers. However, the bandits unfortunately shot and killed a staff member stationed at the perimeter fence who raised alarm on sighting them.

Security forces are conducting operations in the airport general area. Further updates will be communicated to the public."
