YORUBA SCULPTURE CARVED BY OLOWE OF ISE
Taking you to our history: This
piece brings into locus the spiritual and cultural importance of womanhood in traditional Obaship/ family setting.
It is a Yoruba sculpture carved by Olowe of Ise showing the seated king wearing a beaded crown, and supported by his senior wife.
Women provide support but the most
important support they provide to the throne is more than just a physical or emotional support, it is spiritual and psychological to the stability of the throne and the community at large.
