OPINION: WOULD PROFESSOR YEMI OSINBAJO BECOME THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA IN 2023
Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has suggested that the next president of Nigeria in 2027 should be in his 60s because of the nature of the work of the country's leader.
Stating during an exclusive interview with ARISE News that Nigeria's next president should be in his 60s, former Nigerian Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), may have ruled out two leading contenders, a former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and a former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, from the 2023 presidential run, because they would be in their 70s by the next election.
Further speaking, the former military dictator stated that bad leadership was a major reason for series of socio-economic challenges the country is being faced with. In addition, he noted the leadership of the force which he said must be acceptable to everyone involved in the fight against banditry and other crimes in the country.
Meanwhile, the former military dictator didn't mention any body's name but below are some reasons why the suggested person might have been the current vice president.
Below are the reasons why Osinbajo might have been the next president that was suggested....
Firstly, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who is 64 years old fits in to the categories of who the former military dictator has suggested to be the next president. And also, Osinbajo is also believed to be pathway to Nigeria's future because of the good works in which he started with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Secondly, Osinbajo possesses impeccable Leadership qualities to move the nation forward because at different occasions, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has demonstrated that he possesses the unique competence, fairness, accommodation, tolerance and respect for the rule of law to carry everyone along as critical stakeholders in the Nigerian future.
