"IT IS AGAINST THE TENETS OF ISLAM TO PUBLICLY CRITICIZE A LEADER" - KANO HISBAH EXPLAINS WHY IT TREATS THE RICH AND POOR DIFFERENTLY
Following several alleged questioning of the bias portrayed by the Kano Hisbah, the board explains why it treats the rich and the poor differently while enforcing some of its rules.
According to Aliyu Kibiya, a director of the Islamic police, he explained while on a Freedom Radio programme that against the tenets of Islam to publicly criticize a leader.
In his words; "Although we call on everybody in the society to do the right thing, but we make the call on case by case basis
It is against the tenets of Islam to mount the podium and call out leaders. There are ways to caution a leader without criticizing him in public"
The Sharia police recently came under fire for allegedly turning a blind eye to some acts committed by the rich and clamping down on young men from poor homes with stylish haircuts, in addition to banning mannequins at fashion shops.
They were also criticized for not enforcing laws they punish the poor lor, on the rich, using the "revealing dress" the president's newest daughter in law had worn on her wedding day.
Reacting to this, the commander general of the board, Haroun Ibn Sina said they also arrest children of the rich but didn't mention the occasion where this had happened
