BENIN PANITIVE EXPEDITION OF 1897

Lets talk about history from the Benin Panitive Expedition of 1897 inside the Pitt Rivers Museum which was said to have been looted.

The expedition of the Benin kingdom happened in 1897 and was led by admiral Sir Harry Rawson in response to the ambush of a previous British party under Acting Consul General James Phillips

It was a bloody bath because the Bini kingdom were informed ahead of time so they prepared. In the end, some of Benin's most precious Ivory artifacts were taken as the British succeeded but not without a loss as well

History reminds of our strength, our identity and how it all started
