Manchester United boss Michael Carrick said he does not need reassurances from the club's hierarchy, insisting he understands that only victories will end speculation about his future.
United travel to face Italian side Como in the Champions League on Wednesday having won just two of their 10 matches in all competitions this season.
United are enduring their worst start to a league season in four decades, were dumped out of the League Cup by Brighton last month and were soundly beaten by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last week.
Appointed on a permanent deal in May after impressing as interim boss in the second half of last season, Carrick is now the latest manager to come under intense pressure.
It is a familiar story at Old Trafford, where the club has been in decline since Alex Ferguson stepped down in 2013.
“I know we've got to win football games for everything to flow and everything to fit into place. That's the great thing about it, we can do something about it,” Carrick told his pre-match press conference in Italy.
“I don't need any reassurance. It's pretty clear.
“I know the role, I know the responsibilities. I don't need anyone else to kind of tell me that or tell me when it's going well or when it needs to be better. I know that myself.”
Carrick's bid to spark a turnaround has been undermined by a lengthening injury list.
Lisandro Martinez featured from the start in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Leeds - despite his sharp criticism of the club's transfer inactivity after the loss to Atletico - but had to come off at the break.

The Argentine centre-back is ruled out of the Como trip, joining Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford, Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven on the sidelines.
