EPL: Ipswich Miss Chance For Historic Home Wins But Hold Forest

Forest Vs Ipswich
Ipswich Town hold Forest to extend O'Neil's unbeaten run

Ipswich Town miss chance for first back-to-back Premier League home wins since 2002 but rescue 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest thanks to Julio Enciso strike.

Forest frustrated again as Enciso punishes Milenkovic error...

Julio Enciso cancelled out Neco Williams' early opener as Ipswich Town rescued a somewhat fortunate 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, extending Gary O'Neil's unbeaten run against the visitors to six games.

On a blustery afternoon, the first real chance came from a floated free-kick by captain Morgan Gibbs-White, with Jair Cunha meeting the knock-down to force a fine save from Christian Walton.

Liam Delap spurned a decent opportunity against his former club, firing well wide after being teed up by his captain.

Forest continued to push and were rewarded when their wing-backs combined, Daniel Munoz picking out Neco Williams to slot home a controlled finish at the far post.

A lively Morgan Gibbs-White almost doubled the lead on a quick break, but his curling effort drifted just wide of the post. Ipswich nearly hit back immediately, with Jaden Philogene forcing Matz Sels into a fine save.

Gibbs-White looked destined to finally get on the scoresheet, only for Walton to get a crucial toe to his effort and Leif Davis to hack clear on the line with a superb goal-line intervention.

The clearance proved vital moments later, when Nikola Milenkovic's under-hit back-pass was seized upon by Enciso, who stole in to snatch an equaliser against the run of play before half-time.

Controversy followed early in the second half when Issa Diop appeared to bring down James McAtee as he burst through on goal, but referee Thomas Bramall initially waved play on. After being sent to the monitor to review a potential denial of a goalscoring opportunity, he belatedly awarded the free-kick, though he decided McAtee's touch had taken him away from goal and only showed a yellow card.

Nottingham Forest continued to push forward and Walton had to be alert to keep out Murillo after his defence failed to deal with a corner.

Incredibly, Davis was on hand again to clear off the line, this time denying Dan Ndoye.

A loose clearance fell to Delap for a big late chance, but he lifted his effort over the bar before going close again with a strike from the edge of the box moments later.

Enciso thought he was in again under bizarre circumstances when McAtee stopped after noticing an issue with the ball, only for Bramall to eventually award a drop ball. Instead, the best chance to win it fell to Forest substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi, who dragged his effort wide when clean through.

The result means Ipswich miss out on back-to-back Premier League home wins for the first time since January 2002, but they will be happy enough with a point that keeps them ninth. For Forest, Oliver Glasner is now without a win in four league games and will be feeling the pressure, even though his side edged out of the relegation zone.
