Erling Haaland's brace inspired Manchester City past Ipswich as their perfect Premier League start continued.
Table-topping Manchester City stretched their incredible unbeaten Premier League run against newly-promoted sides to 32 matches with a 3-2 win over Ipswich Town.
City's first home league game since being found guilty of over 100 financial breaches unsurprisingly saw the Premier League anthem booed before kick-off.
An emotionally charged atmosphere off the pitch was not replicated on it initially, as City struggled for early momentum. But once they hit their stride, it always felt inevitable that they would take the lead.
Ruben Dias fired a warning shot that forced Christian Walton into a stunning save, but the Tractor Boys did not heed the warning and fell behind moments later when Jeremy Doku's cross was finished off by City's forgotten man Phil Foden.
But that did not deter the visitors, who hit back instantly when Abdoul Ouattara's measured ball behind Marc Guehi freed Daizen Maeda to roll home an equaliser.
The visitors were not level for long, though. After Emerson squandered a chance to take the lead when he whistled an effort narrowly wide, they were undone by the inevitable as Erling Haaland popped up in the middle of the box to head home Mateo Kovacic's cross.
Dias could have sent Enzo Maresca's men into the break in a commanding position, but his second stinging drive of the afternoon was met by an equally impressive save from Walton.
Headed chances for Emerson and Nico O'Reilly that went wide after the break saw the wait for the game's fourth goal continue, although that was likely a bigger concern for Ipswich, who knew chances here were always going to be at a premium.
Enzo Fernandez wasted another chance to double City's lead when he ballooned a 25-yard free kick over the bar, but that proved to be the last reprieve handed to the Tractor Boys. Haaland burst through the heart of the visitors' defence to coolly slot home City's third and all but end the game as a contest.
It was always likely to be a long way back from there for O'Neil's men, even with the sheer number of late goals they have scored this season, although they did snatch a late consolation through Zian Flemming from the penalty spot.

The City juggernaut continues to roll on, though, despite VAR denying Haaland a hat-trick in the closing stages. That win made it seven successive victories to start the season, a feat only two teams in Premier League history have achieved before, and both went on to win the title!
Yet another record for @Erling! 😮💨💯 https://t.co/Iezj3L45mF
