Antonio Conte Clarifies Future: No Advanced Talks, No Demands

Antonio Conte sets record straight amid Man Utd links

Antonio Conte has issued a clear statement on his future, shutting down speculation about advanced talks and rejecting reports of financial demands. Here’s what he said.

“I have read reports of financial demands and requests for full control that I have supposedly...”

In a calm but firm statement released on social media, Antonio Conte has moved to clarify the swirling speculation surrounding his next managerial destination.

The 57-year-old Italian, who guided Napoli to the Serie A title in his first season before departing by mutual consent at the end of the following campaign, addressed reports linking him with several high-profile clubs most notably Manchester United, where pressure is mounting on current head coach Michael Carrick.

The Full Statement
Conte wrote:

My name has been linked with numerous clubs, but there are currently no negotiations at an advanced stage.

Following a wonderful and successful spell in charge of Napoli, I will take the time I need to consider how and when to return to management. It will be a carefully considered decision, one I will make when I believe the conditions are right.

I have read reports of financial demands and requests for full control that I have supposedly already made to the clubs mentioned, as well as reservations about what has been described as my ‘strong personality’. These reports are unfounded, as there is currently no concrete basis for such assessments.

Should a concrete opportunity arise, that will be the time to hold discussions with the club concerned and jointly consider the terms of a potential agreement, with due regard for both parties’ needs and the qualities and approach that define my work as a manager.

Until then, any assumptions about my demands and my professional future remain speculation and cannot be treated as fact.

What This Really Means

Conte’s message is clear and characteristically direct. He is not in advanced talks with anyone. Claims that he has already tabled ambitious salary demands or insisted on complete control of transfers and staffing are, in his words, “unfounded.” He also brushed aside suggestions that clubs are wary of his “strong personality.”

Instead, the former Juventus, Inter, Chelsea and Tottenham manager is taking a deliberate approach. After a successful two-year stint in Naples that delivered a Scudetto and a second-place finish, he wants the right project at the right moment not the first available one.

This measured stance is classic Conte. Throughout his career he has prioritised environments where his intense, demanding methods can thrive. He is not rushing back into the dugout simply because vacancies may open up.

The Backdrop

Manchester United have been the most frequently mentioned destination in recent days, amid growing scrutiny of Carrick’s position following a heavy Champions League defeat. Conte has also been linked with a potential return to Juventus and interest from other European sides. His availability as a free agent, combined with his proven track record of winning league titles in both Italy and England, makes him an obvious name in any conversation about high-profile vacancies.

Yet Conte has drawn a firm line under the rumour mill for now. Any serious discussions, he insists, will only begin if and when a concrete opportunity presents itself and even then, both sides will need to find common ground on vision, structure and working methods.

Looking Ahead

For now, Antonio Conte remains a free agent taking his time. Clubs interested in his services will have to wait until he decides the conditions are right. Until that moment arrives, everything else is just noise.
One thing is certain: when Conte does choose his next chapter, it will be on his terms.
