Puka Nacua dealing with minor groin soreness as Rams downplay injury...
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua cut his practice short on Tuesday and walked off the field with head athletic trainer Reggie Scott. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport later shared details on the situation.
According to Rapoport, Nacua is dealing with minor groin soreness and the issue isn’t believed to be serious.
Any time Nacua misses would put his injury history back in focus. He suffered a serious right knee injury before last season’s opener that turned into a PCL sprain, and it landed him on injured reserve for five games.
In 2025 he also hurt his ankle against the Baltimore Ravens, but only sat out one game. His physical style of play often leads to knocks and bruises over the course of a season.
With that in mind, the Rams can’t afford to be without him in 2025. The 25-year-old led the NFL last year with 129 catches for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns. Overall, he has 313 receptions, 4,191 yards and 19 touchdowns in 44 career games.
Nacua is heading into the final year of his rookie contract, with a base salary of around $5.8 million for 2026. The expectation is that he’ll sign an extension with the Rams, unless the team decides to use the franchise tag on him instead.
For now, the Rams aren’t worried about the injury. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, the 2025 NFL MVP, said no one inside the building is stressed and that he doesn’t believe Nacua’s issue is serious.
Head coach Sean McVay and the training staff will likely provide another update later this week. But at this point, the expectation is that there’s nothing major to be concerned about.
