Coco Gauff extended her unbeaten run against Mirra Andreeva, coming from a set down in Rome for the third match in a row to claim a fifth straight win over the Russian.
After dropping the opening set, Gauff surged to a 3-0 lead in the second. She saved a break point at 3-1, then broke again to take the set and force a decider, where she managed to hold off Andreeva’s push to get back into the match.

Serving for the match at 5-1 and again at 5-3, Gauff was broken both times. She eventually broke Andreeva to close it out and secure victory.
“I had a big lead in the third set, and it got a little bit close,” Gauff said.
“She's a great player, she's capable of winning games, and I think I learned a little bit on how to try to close those out, but I'm glad I was able to win.”
