Julian Nagelsmann confirmed Kai Havertz will lead Germany’s attack at the World Cup, urging him to stay fit and embrace the No. 9 role.

The Arsenal forward is set to start as Germany’s No. 9 after the coach called him “incredibly important” to the team...

Julian Nagelsmann has said Kai Havertz will be included in Germany’s squad for the World Cup.

It was a frustrating season for Havertz due to injury, but it finished on a high note. He won the Premier League title with Arsenal, ending the club’s 22-year wait for the trophy.

Havertz made just 11 Premier League appearances this season. Arsenal were confirmed as champions on Tuesday after Manchester City drew with Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old has shown flashes of his best form recently. He scored the winner in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Burnley and also netted in the 2-1 loss at the Etihad in April.

After celebrating the league title, Havertz will shift focus to the World Cup. Arsenal still face Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League and PSG in the Champions League final. Nagelsmann hopes the forward can take on a leading role for Germany.

“On the pitch, you are outstanding. Incredibly important for us. Stay healthy, clear your mind and go for it. You have everything we need to have a top goalscorer up front,” Nagelsmann said.

Germany plan to start Havertz as their No. 9 this summer, and he should embrace the expectation that comes with the role.
