Yamal magic inspires Barcelona comeback in 4-1 win at Galatasaray...

Barcelona staged a stunning second-half blitz to complete a remarkable fightback against Galatasaray.

Lamine Yamal provided two sensational assists in the space of four minutes to inspire Barcelona to a 4-1 comeback victory at Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League league phase, as the Blaugrana extended their winning run to 10 matches across all competitions.

Galatasaray's notoriously hostile supporters created a deafening atmosphere from the off in an attempt to intimidate Barca, but the visitors soon found their rhythm and Dani Olmo was denied in a one-on-one by Ugurcan Cakir inside six minutes.

The goalkeeper came to the rescue again 10 minutes later to deny Anthony Gordon, who was making his first Champions League start for the Blaugrana, before the stretching Olmo sent a diving header wide and Joao Cancelo saw a fierce drive pushed away by Cakir.

Barca had been dominant, so it was completely against the run of play when Aleksey Batrakov put Galatasaray ahead in the 28th minute with their first shot of the night.

The midfielder latched onto Rafael Leao’s cutback and fired home his first Champions League goal via a deflection off Cancelo, extending Barcelona’s run without a clean sheet in the competition to 17 matches.

Baris Alper Yilmaz thought he had doubled the advantage six minutes later when he headed home from a corner, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

The visitors regained momentum as a result and equalised two minutes before the break, as Cancelo curled into the far corner to score his first Champions League goal since March 2024.

Gordon somehow volleyed Yamal’s delicious cross wide barely a minute after the restart, but Fermin Lopez made no mistake four minutes later, heading home another exquisite delivery from the Spanish teenager to bag his fifth goal of the season.

Yamal was in the mood, and he registered his 10th assist of the campaign across all competitions just three minutes later, producing a moment of brilliance on the byline before squaring for Gordon to tap in his first Champions League goal for Barca.

Both managers responded with a flurry of substitutions, and Karim Adeyemi put the visitors 4-1 up just seven minutes after coming on, netting his second goal in as many Champions League appearances.

Adeyemi was twice denied late on, as Hansi Flick’s side maintained their perfect start to the campaign and laid down a marker to their continental rivals ahead of next Tuesday’s huge league-phase trip to holders Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray have now lost eight of their last 14 Champions League matches (W5, D1) and remain without a point in this season’s competition, with a trip to LOSC Lille next up on October 21st.

Match Numbers

Barcelona dominated the ball with 68% possession, attempting 19 shots to Galatasaray's five and hitting the target seven times to the Turkish side's one.
