Houston Astros infielder Carlos Correa tore a left ankle tendon in pregame batting practice and will miss the rest of the 2026 MLB season, the team announced Wednesday.

Correa’s season-ending ankle injury is the latest blow for the Astros, who are already without Yainer Diaz and Jeremy Pena due to separate injuries...

The Houston Astros confirmed on Wednesday that infielder Carlos Correa has torn a tendon in his left ankle during batting practice and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the MLB season.

Correa was pulled from the lineup shortly before the Astros’ 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday after suffering the injury while taking swings in pregame warmups.

This season, Correa was hitting .279 with three home runs and 16 RBIs.

The setback adds to Houston’s growing injury list, which already includes catcher Yainer Díaz dealing with an oblique issue. Shortstop Jeremy Pena is also on the mend from both a fractured finger and a hamstring strain.

“I need surgery on the tendon on my left ankle,” Correa told reporters on Wednesday.

“I was hitting in the cage, normal day, feeling great,” he said.

“Went through a lot of routine, took a swing and just fell apart. It just completely snapped on me, and then I fell to the ground and couldn't put any weight on it.”
