Sweden faces Denmark in crucial World Cup qualifier without key striker Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, injured.

“Those of you who have seen training this week have seen that she has done a few minutes on the right...”

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Sweden's key striker, is uncertain to play in the crucial World Cup qualifier against Denmark tomorrow night due to a calf injury. The Chelsea player picked up the injury during training and has been ruled out of Chelsea's recent matches.

Swedish national team coach Tony Gustavsson confirms Rytting Kaneryd's participation is touch-and-go, saying “The information I have received is that right now it is day to day.” The team's medical team is monitoring her condition closely, and a decision on her availability will be made soon.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd's coach says the Swedish midfielder hasn't ruled out a return to action, saying: “I haven't closed the door completely, but I want to be honest with you and with her.” Kaneryd's progress is being monitored after a calf injury kept her out of Chelsea's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal.

The injury has put her participation in doubt, and her team is keeping a close eye on her recovery.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Sweden's key striker, is unlikely to play in the World Cup qualifier against Denmark tomorrow night due to a calf injury. She's been training solo, and coach Tony Gustavsson says it's touch-and-go, with the medical team making the final call Monday evening.

Rytting Kaneryd's absence is a big blow for Sweden, with other injuries piling up, including Kosovare Asllani and Nathalie Bjorn

“Regardless of what message I get tonight, there is an extremely low probability that we will see her tomorrow. We also have other attacking players who have trained for a whole week and are in match shape,”
says Gustavsson, who further says that it will be a huge challenge to replace the Chelsea striker.

“I will be honest and say that it is a challenge. There are many challenges, and it is clear that there is a limit to how much this group can take. With new players in, rotation, and young players. Not least when it comes to leadership, then I don't just mean the football qualities, but we have worked very hard on that,“ says Gustavsson.

Sweden's coach Tony Gustavsson is considering BK Hacken's Monica Jusu Bah as a possible replacement for Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, who's struggling with a calf injury.

“Those of you who have seen training this week have seen that she has done a few minutes on the right. This is a player who we believe can play both positions. She is definitely an option there, too.”

Sweden and Denmark are set to face off at the Gamla Ullevi Arena in Gothenburg on Tuesday evening at 19:00 CET in a crucial World Cup qualifying match. Sweden's key striker Johanna Rytting Kaneryd is uncertain to play due to a calf injury, while Denmark is looking strong with Monica Jusu Bah as a possible replacement.
