Senegal Stars Mock CAF in Title Strip Fury: “Crybabies” and Trophy Taunts
Senegal lifted the Africa Cup of Nations trophy after a dramatic and contentious final against host Morocco in January

Senegal players ridicule CAF's shocking decision to strip their AFCON title and award it to Morocco, posting sarcastic jibes like “give the crybabies three more goals” on social media amid widespread outrage. “Come and Get It!” – Senegal Players.

Senegal's national team stars hit back with mocking posts featuring the trophy and laughing emojis...

Senegal's national team players are mocking the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to strip them of their Africa Cup of Nations title. The players' reaction comes after CAF ruled that Senegal forfeited the game due to their walk-off protest against a penalty awarded to Morocco, leading to Morocco being declared champions.

The Senegalese Football Federation has announced plans to appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, calling it “unfair, unprecedented, and unacceptable.” The government has also demanded an independent international investigation into suspected corruption within CAF's governing bodies.

Senegal's team had a dramatic turnaround, initially winning the match 1-0 with Pape Gueye's extra-time goal, only to have the result overturned by CAF's Appeal Board, awarding Morocco a 3-0 win.

The Senegalese players took the news in stride, cracking jokes and making sarcastic comments on social media. Sounds like they're not taking the decision lying down!

Midfielder Pathe Ciss had a cheeky response, posting a pic of him holding the trophy and celebrating on X, saying “you can give the crybabies three more goals.”

Mamadou Lamine Camara wasn't having it either, jokingly asking “Who will come and collect our medals?” and poking fun at Morocco, asking when their parade was planned.

Moussa Niakhate posted a pic from the final, saying “This is not AI, this is real.”

El Hadji Malick Diouf kept it straight, “This trophy is won on the pitch, ‌not by email.”

Boulaye Dia chimed in, “You don't create emotions; you have to experience them.”

Idrissa Gueye went philosophical on Instagram.

“Titles, trophies, medals – all of that is fleeting. What really matters is that every fan can go home to their families... We know what we lived that evening in Rabat. And no one can take that away from us,” he wrote.

The Senegalese Football Federation is fuming over the decision to strip them of their Africa Cup of Nations title, labeling it “unfair, unprecedented, and unacceptable.” They've announced plans to appeal the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The country's government isn't taking it lying down either, calling for an independent international investigation into the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over alleged corruption. Government spokeswoman Marie Rose Khady Fatou Faye described the decision as “grossly illegal and profoundly unjust.”

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation is playing it cool, acknowledging the decision and stating the appeal was about getting the rules applied correctly. They're keeping it straightforward, no further comment. CAF's yet to respond to requests for comment.
