“Me coming in, just trying to learn the defensive principles...“

The Dallas Mavericks are experiencing a tough time, folks! They just lost their 10th game in a row, marking their worst slump since 1998. This time, it was Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves who handed them the loss, with Edwards scoring an impressive 40 points.

Edwards, fresh from winning the MVP award at last weekend's All-Star Game in LA, also grabbed six rebounds. Rudy Gobert wasn't too shabby either, scoring 22 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. The Mavericks showed some fight, though, nearly coming back from an 18-point deficit in the second quarter.

The Mavericks were down by 18 points in the second quarter, but they showed signs of life and nearly pulled off an improbable comeback. Dallas fought back to draw level at 103-103 with just under seven minutes to go.

However, Edwards wouldn't let them have it. The Mavs' momentum was halted, and Minnesota pulled away again, with a final score of 122-111.

“We take pride in being able to win clutch games,” said Edwards. “We struggled with that last year.”

"We came out aggressive in the start, but it ended up going flat for us, and they found a run.

"Basketball is a game of runs, and they played real hard. So big shout out to those guys.”

Fourteen of Edwards' points came in the final quarter, sealing the deal for the Wolves.

For the Wolves, it was an eighth win in 11 games, solidifying their fifth spot in the Western Conference.

For Dallas, a 10th straight loss leaves them marooned in 12th in the Western Conference, outside of playoff contention. Their rookie teen phenom Cooper Flagg didn't play due to a foot injury.

Western Conference Shake-Up

The Oklahoma City Thunder is on fire! They stormed back from the NBA All-Star Game break with a 105-86 win over the Brooklyn Nets, solidifying their lead at the top of the Western Conference.

The Thunder were missing key players, including reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (abdominal strain) and Jalen Williams, but they still dominated the Nets.

The defending NBA champions are showing their strength in depth, with half of their points coming from the bench.

Jared McCain, traded from the 76ers earlier this month, led the charge off the bench with 21 points and praised the Thunder's “chemistry.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers are on fire, winning their seventh game in a row with a 118-113 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

This hot streak is the best in the league, and it's gained momentum since signing former MVP James Harden earlier this month.

“Me coming in, just trying to learn the defensive principles... there's a reason why they're so good at it -- so just trying to be aggressive on defence and create those turnovers on offence,“ he said.

Harden, aka “The Beard,“ scored 18 points, but it was Donovan Mitchell who stole the show with 32 points, while Jarrett Allen added 26 points and 14 rebounds.

In LA, it was a intense derby as the Lakers edged out their rivals, the Clippers, 125-122.

Luka Doncic was a force, scoring 38 points with six rebounds and 11 assists. LeBron James chipped in with 13 points and 11 assists, helping the Lakers win.

Nikola Jokic dominated for the Nuggets, pouring in 32 points as they crushed the Trail Blazers 157-103. The 54-point margin was the second-largest victory in Nuggets history.
