Newcastle Prep for Tottenham Clash

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe cautions his team against underestimating Tottenham in tomorrow night's Premier League clash at St James' Park.

“The last two league performances have been us. I am reluctant to say we are back but I think we are moving in the right direction...”

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe warns his team not to underestimate Tottenham, saying they'll face a “tough game” at St James' Park. The Magpies are riding high after a 4-1 win at Everton and look to make it three league wins in a row against Spurs.

Spurs' Recent Form

Tottenham, on the other hand, are coming off a defeat to Fulham and will be looking to bounce back against Newcastle. Howe's side will be keen to capitalize on Spurs' recent struggles and extend their winning streak.

Asked about knocking out Tottenham from the League Cup, Howe said: “That was a tough game and this one will be no different.

“They have a few players back from that game and they have a strong squad and a very good manager.

“We always felt during some difficult runs that the league is very tight and a consistent run of victories can propel you up the league.

“A couple of wins and we are back to where we want to be so it is a really key time because we can't become detached. We really need a run of games where we get positive results.”

Rotation Key to Newcastle's Success

Newcastle's 4-1 win at Everton showcased the team's depth, with manager Eddie Howe rotating his squad due to Champions League commitments and injury concerns. This strategic move paid off, as the team looked fresh and made tactical tweaks, resulting in a convincing victory.

He also said this morning: “We said all along this year that it is very much going to be a squad effort that gets us through this season. We have tried to manage the squad effectively through the last games and we get a lot of information from the sports science team.

“After West Ham and Brentford we had to pick a team who was physically ready to execute the game and that is what I will be looking for going forward.

“When we are very good in that respect, we are very difficult to play against. With the game schedule we have, fresh players on the pitch are one thing but physically the players are going to have to dig deep this season.”

Keeping it Real

Eddie Howe is keeping Newcastle's feet on the ground, saying they're not there yet despite back-to-back wins. “We're still a long way off where we want to be,” he warned, emphasizing the team's focus is on continuous improvement.

“The last two league performances have been us. I am reluctant to say we are back but I think we are moving in the right direction,” he said.

Eddie Howe praised Nick

Woltemade's goal against Everton, saying it showcased the young player's quality and finishing ability. Woltemade's strike was a highlight of Newcastle's 4-1 win, and Howe was delighted with his performance.

“That was one of my favourite goals of his so far. I think the finish was on but very few players could execute it in the manner he does.”

Elanga Shining Bright

Anthony Elanga's performance at Everton was a standout, with many hailing it as his best for Newcastle. The Sweden winger is finally hitting his stride, and his impressive display has fans and manager Eddie Howe optimistic about his future at the club.

Elanga's form has been building, and his impressive showing against Everton has Newcastle fans excited. The £15m signing from Nottingham Forest is starting to live up to expectations, and his contributions will be crucial as Newcastle push for a top-four finish.

Howe stated: “The first transition of the game right from kick off was him running the full length of the pitch.

“It is a big change for any player but it was a big step forward in terms of getting used to the demands of being a Newcastle player.”

Thiaw's New Dimension

Eddie Howe praises Malick Thiaw's attacking prowess, highlighting his two-goal haul at Everton. Thiaw's aerial threat will be a key asset for Newcastle, and Howe plans to utilize him at set-pieces against Tottenham.

He added: “It is an interesting one with Malick because he has got his head on our set plays quite a bit but hadn't put the finishing touches to it in the way he did it on Saturday. The importance of set play goals wins or loses you games.”

Wissa's Progress Update

Eddie Howe provided an update on Yoane Wissa's recovery, saying the forward is making progress but is still working his way back from a knee injury, with his return timeline uncertain.
