Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Ven scored an epic solo goal, helping his team secure a 4-0 win over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League. This victory moved Spurs into the automatic knockout qualification zone of the league phase table.
Despite being reduced to 10 men after Brennan Johnson's red card, Spurs continued to dominate the game. Van de Ven's incredible goal came in the 64th minute, where he stole the ball near his own penalty area and sprinted past multiple opponents to score. The win extends Tottenham's unbeaten run in UEFA competition games on home soil to 22 matches, dating back to the start of the 2020/21 season.
Tottenham scored soon after, thanks to a blunder from Gabriel Pereira, who failed to execute a pass in Spurs' territory. Simons seized the opportunity, intercepting the ball and spotting Brennan Johnson's perfectly timed run. Johnson received the pass and, despite being at a tight angle, skillfully rolled the ball into the far corner, past the diving Dominik Kotarski, marking his first goal in eight matches.
Spurs may have expected to extend their lead by this stage, but Copenhagen's resilience allowed them to regroup. Given the Danish side's impressive goal-scoring diversity, with 18 different scorers this season, Spurs' cautious approach seemed ill-advised. However, after Elias Achouri wasted a rare scoring chance for Copenhagen, Tottenham nearly doubled their lead just before halftime.
Tottenham's Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons linked up beautifully around the Copenhagen box, exchanging four one-touch passes, including a defense-splitting flick into the box. However, Randal Kolo Muani couldn't capitalize when Xavi's final pass left him unaligned, resulting in a wasted opportunity as he shot wide at close range.
Copenhagen's defense was breached five minutes after halftime when a long ball down the right flank allowed Muani to charge through and force goalkeeper Kotarski into coming out, though the scoring opportunity wasn't taken.

The goalkeeper blocked Muani's initial attempt, but the ball deflected wide, allowing him to pull it back to Odobert, who scored into the empty net. Shortly after, Youssoufa Moukoko had a chance to make it 2-1, but his curled effort was held well by Vicario. However, Tottenham's fortunes took a turn for the worse when Brennan Johnson's cynical challenge on Marcos Lopez earned him a straight red card.
Spurs exceeded expectations with a thrilling performance, scoring two goals in quick succession before Micky van de Ven sealed the win with a stunning solo effort, beating multiple opponents from his own box to score a contender for goal of the season.

Cristian Romero's clever run ended with a pass to Joao Palhinha, who scored to make it 4-0. As expected, Copenhagen's tempo slowed down after that, but Tottenham still managed to create some late chances. Richarlison hit the bar with a header and then missed a penalty kick in injury time after Dane Scarlett was fouled. Despite not scoring double figures, Tottenham's four-goal haul under Thomas Frank is a positive sign for future matches.
Copenhagen struggled, having failed to score in 13 of their last 14 away games in UEFA competitions, and they looked out of their depth. They could potentially find themselves at the bottom of the league phase table soon.
