Lille is taking a strong stance against racism, announcing plans to pursue legal action against fans involved in hate speech and racist insults during their recent matches. The club released a statement condemning the behavior, saying, “LOSC strongly condemns the unacceptable behaviour observed, as well as the hateful comments and racist insults made by certain individuals in the visitors' section during trips to Belgrade and Strasbourg last Thursday and Sunday.”
The incidents occurred during Lille's matches at Red Star Belgrade and Strasbourg, with the club stating they're working to identify those involved. “Concrete measures were taken this morning. A procedure to identify the individuals involved is currently under way, with a view to filing several complaints with the police authorities,” the club added. Lille lost 1-0 to Red Star in the Europa League.
The club emphasized that such behavior goes against their values, saying, “Such behaviour is unacceptable and completely contrary to the values that the club consistently upholds and promotes.” Lille aims to take appropriate sanctions against those responsible, stating, “LOSC intends to pursue legal action against them and seek appropriate sanctions.”
