Atalanta has parted ways with manager Ivan Juric following a disappointing start to the Serie A season. The club announced his departure on Monday, citing a string of poor results, including a 3-0 home loss to Sassuolo, which left them 13th in the league table with 13 points from 11 matches.
Juric, who took over from Gian Piero Gasperini in June, had struggled to match his predecessor's success, managing only two league wins this campaign. The Croatian coach's tenure was marked by a seven-match winless streak, including five consecutive draws, before back-to-back defeats against Udinese and Sassuolo. Former Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino is the favorite to replace Juric, with talks reportedly underway.
“Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Juric has been relieved of his duties as first team coach,” the club said in a statement.
“Atalanta BC would like to thank Ivan Juric and his staff for their hard work and wishes them all the best for the future.”
Ivan Juric, the former manager of Atalanta, had a tumultuous tenure at the club, lasting less than two months at AS Roma and a brief stint at Southampton, which ended with their relegation from the Premier League. His struggles continued at Atalanta, leading to his dismissal after a 3-0 home defeat to Sassuolo, leaving the club 13th in Serie A.
Raffaele Palladino, a former Fiorentina boss, is the favorite to take over as Atalanta's new manager, with talks reportedly underway. The club is looking to shake off their dismal run of form, having managed only two league wins this campaign and trailing leaders Inter Milan by 11 points.
