Crystal Palace News: Glasner on Contract, Mateta-Zaha, and Injury Update

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner updates fans on team injuries, contract negotiations, and the Mateta-Zaha situation.

“It is not that I need conditions or that I want something - Palace want to be successful and want to continue this pathway...”

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is set to enter talks over a new contract, according to recent statements. Ahead of Saturday's match against Bournemouth at Selhurst Park, Glasner expressed his willingness to discuss the terms of his future at the club.

The Eagles' recent unbeaten streak was halted by Everton, with Jack Grealish scoring the decisive goal before halftime. Now, they're preparing to face Bournemouth in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

Glasner confirmed that discussions about his future have been ongoing, emphasizing the importance of aligning goals and vision for the club's success. He stated that if they can find common ground, talks will progress; otherwise, they'll conclude discussions.

Glasner's Contract Talks with Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that discussions about a new contract have indeed taken place. He emphasized the importance of having the same goals and vision for Crystal Palace, stating, “If we can find the same pathway and same goal for Crystal Palace, we will enter talks. If we can't find it, we will also enter talks.” Glasner's current deal expires in June 2026, and talks are ongoing with Crystal Palace's chairman, Steve Parish, whom he meets with regularly.

“I met Steve (Parish) on Sunday at an NFL game and we talked. I met him on Tuesday, we talked. I met him on Wednesday and we talked. He is here today and we talked - that is why I was a bit late! We talk almost every day.

“It is not that I need conditions or that I want something - Palace want to be successful and want to continue this pathway. We are always discussing how to have the best chance to continue.

“Working together and having a relationship together makes sense if you have the same goals and vision, otherwise you can't be successful.

“If we can find the same pathway and same goal for Crystal Palace, we will enter talks. If we can't find it, we will also enter talks.”

Mateta and Zaha's Public Spat

Wilfried Zaha has fired back at former teammate Jean-Philippe Mateta, denying claims that he mocked Mateta's dream of playing for France. Mateta alleged that Zaha and other players laughed when he shared his ambition, but Zaha insists the conversation was just friendly banter. “The conversation that was had was his chances of playing for France... we laughed it off, but we were joking around, saying it would be difficult,” Zaha said, emphasizing that no one ever said Mateta wouldn't make it.

Oliver Glasner  said: “I don't know anything about it. I don't speak to my players about social media activities - this is a 24 hour job and we have more important things to talk about.

“I couldn't see any negative or positive influence when he came back from France.”

Glasner Basks in Accolades

Oliver Glasner expressed his pride in receiving the Premier League Manager of the Month award for September and Austrian Coach of the Year, calling them “two great honors.”

“It’s a great honour. But today was the first time all the players were finally back from international duty.

“So, I say thank you to the players and to my staff – because they are the reason I received this award. We cannot achieve anything alone; we can only succeed together as a team. And again, it's the players who have to perform that well.

"They have to win all the games. They have to win trophies. Otherwise, it's impossible.

“So yes, of course it’s a big honour for me. But all the credit belongs to all of us. I told the players: This is not my award. It’s our award. That’s how I see it.”

No New Injuries for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that there are no new injuries to report, providing a welcome boost for the team ahead of their upcoming matches.

“It's all fine. All players are fit. All are available. We have no injuries at the moment, so fingers crossed that this stays.

“And just in long term, of course, Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure (are out), but all others are fit and available.”
