Yoane Wissa's Future Uncertain as Brentford Opens Season Against Nottingham
Brentford FC kicks off their Premier League season against Nottingham Forest on August 17, with interim manager Keith Andrews leading the team. The club has undergone significant changes, including new signings like Jordan Henderson and departures like Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Norgaard. Yoane Wissa's future remains uncertain amid transfer speculation.
Brentford forward Yoane Wissa won't feature in Sunday's Premier League match against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, due to uncertainty surrounding his future. Manager Keith Andrews confirmed Wissa's absence, citing the player's disrupted pre-season and ongoing transfer speculation. Wissa had withdrawn from Brentford's training camp in Portugal following Newcastle United's £25 million bid plus add-ons, which was rejected by the club.
Transfer Speculation Continues
Newcastle United's interest in Wissa is ongoing, with the club reportedly prepared to increase their offer. Brentford values Wissa higher than the initial bid, with Transfermarkt estimating his worth at €32 million. Meanwhile, a potential deal for Bournemouth's Dango Ouattara could pave the way for Wissa's departure. The match against Nottingham Forest kicks off on August 17 at 2:00 PM WAT.

“I have made a decision he is not (available). It has been a very disruptive pre-season and the interest in Yoane is very clear,” Andrews told reporters on Thursday.
“As a head coach, I want Yoane to be in the building and be a part of the first team and the squad. But I am very understanding of his situation. I have a very good relationship with him, and that will persist, but we want him to stay.”
Brentford is set to face Nottingham Forest in their Premier League opener, led by interim manager Keith Andrews. The team has undergone significant changes this summer, including the departure of long-serving manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham Hotspur. Key players like top scorer Bryan Mbeumo and captain Christian Norgaard have also left the club, joining Manchester United and Arsenal, respectively.
The departures of Mbeumo and Norgaard have left significant gaps in the team, and Brentford will look to new signings and existing talent to fill these roles. With a new managerial setup and changes in the squad, the Bees face a challenging start to the season as they aim to build on last year's 16th-place finish and navigate the uncertainty surrounding Yoane Wissa's future.

Brentford's New Signings
Brentford interim manager Keith Andrews is optimistic about the new season, thanks in part to the signing of former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson. “Jordan Henderson's come in and has been amazing around the place and the influence that he's having on the group and our younger players in particular,” Andrews said, highlighting Henderson's positive impact on the team.

Filling the Void
The departures of top scorers Bryan Mbeumo and promising players have left gaps in the squad, but Andrews believes Henderson's experience and leadership will be invaluable. With Mbeumo scoring 20 Premier League goals last season, one more than Yoane Wissa, Brentford will need to find new ways to score and build team cohesion under the new management.
“Jordan Henderson's come in and has been amazing around the place and the influence that he's having on the group and our younger players in particular,” Andrews said.
“Antoni Milambo (attacking midfielder signed from Feyenoord) was someone I was very keen on bringing in. He's a very talented young player.
“At the top end of the pitch, two players spring to mind — Thiago and Fabio Carvalho. Both are so talented and have come through a really good pre-season. They are ready show what talented young players they are.”
