Cameron Smith isn't the focus however Smylie expressed gratitude for the invitation to the PGA Championship, thanking the PGA of America and Chairman Ian Baker-Finch, along with the PGA of Australia team for their assistance. “Thank you to the PGA of America for the invite and to Chairman, Ian Baker-Finch, and his team at the PGA of Australia for all the help with this process. I can’t wait and I’ll see you all at Quail Hollow.” This event marks Smylie's second major appearance, following a rough debut at last year's British Open where he missed the cut. However, Smylie rebounded with a strong season, winning the Australian PGA Championship and earning status on the DP World Tour.
Elvis Smylie, currently ranked 202nd in the world, will join a strong Australian contingent at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. He'll be alongside notable compatriots, including Cameron Smith and major winners Adam Scott and Jason Day, the 2015 PGA Championship winner. Additionally, Smylie's order-of-merit win has also earned him an exemption to the British Open at Royal Portrush.
