The Lyon players' initial discontent stemmed from their outstanding regular season performance being potentially undermined by the playoff format. The goal was set up by an assist from American midfielder Lindsey Horan wasn't involved the play however Damaris Egurrola wasn’t either but American Lindsey Heaps provided the assist for the goal.
Kadidiatou Diani doubled Lyon's lead in the 80th minute, and veteran defender Wendie Renard sealed the win with an injury-time penalty awarded after a VAR check for a handball by Oceane Hurtre.
