Dortmund Shake-Up: Mike Tullberg Replaces Jan Zimmermann as U23 Coach

Borussia Dortmund has parted ways with Under-23 coach Jan Zimmermann and promoted Mike Tullberg to take over the team for the final two games of the season.

Borussia Dortmund has parted ways with its Under-23 coach Jan Zimmermann with immediate effect due to the team's poor performance. The Under-23 side had suffered three consecutive defeats, landing them in 16th place in the 3. Bundesliga.

Following Zimmermann's departure, the club has promoted Under-19 coach Mike Tullberg to take over the Under-23 team ahead of schedule. Tullberg had already been signed to lead the team from the next season, but he'll assume the role earlier than planned.

Mike Tullberg will take over as coach of Borussia Dortmund's Under-23 team for the last two games of the season. The 39-year-old Danish coach was initially set to join the team from the new season, but he'll assume the role earlier due to recent developments.

Tullberg will lead the team in the crucial relegation battle against VfB Stuttgart II, starting from Friday evening's direct duel. He expressed satisfaction with his new role.

“I am very happy that I will remain part of BVB in the future and that we have agreed on an agreement for 2028. It makes me proud.”
