Tadej Pogacar won Liege-Bastogne-Liege for the third time, launching a solo attack 34km from the finish.

Pogacar's decisive move came on the Cote de la Redoute climb, where he put significant distance between his rivals, going on to finish the 252km route in 6 hours and 9 seconds.

Tadej Pogacar won Liege-Bastogne-Liege for the third time, finishing 63 seconds ahead of second and third-place finishers Giulio Ciccone and Ben Healy.

“It feels great to finish the first part of the season like this,” Pogacar said. “I'm just happy that the whole season so far went perfect.” He added that his attack on La Redoute wasn't planned, “but it was such a hard pace before that I saw a number of teams didn't have a lot of teammates anymore.”

“I said 'OK, I'll test my legs a little bit and see if I can get a gap on the top' and then I'll decide if I continue or not. Then I just committed because I had good legs, also on the second climb after La Redoute,” Pogacar explained about his decisive move.

Pogacar's win marked his ninth Monument victory, putting him joint-third on the all-time list. A podium finish at the Giro di Lombardia would make him the first rider to achieve podiums in all five Monuments in the same year.
