Jannik Sinner Ready to Get Back to Action After Suspension

Jannik Sinner is set to return to tennis after a three-month doping ban. Find out what the world number one has to say about his comeback.

Jannik Sinner retained his world number one ranking despite being sidelined due to a three-month doping ban. However, the Italian tennis star doesn't anticipate an easy return to form when he resumes competition.

Jannik Sinner's absence from the court began after he accepted a ban in February following a deal with the World Anti-Doping Agency. This came after a tribunal initially cleared him of wrongdoing following two positive tests. Sinner is set to return to action at the Rome Masters next month.

Jannik Sinner's suspension is set to end on May 4, paving the way for his competitive return at the Italian Open starting May 7. Sinner was allowed to resume training on April 13 and has been working on his fitness with the French Open in mind.

“We're training very hard. Hopefully, we'll get some momentum going again ahead of the clay season. It certainly won't be easy for me,” Sinner said. “The first games will be really difficult. But hopefully I'll be able to get back into the rhythm and then we'll see how it goes.” Sinner retained the world number one ranking thanks to Alexander Zverev's early exit in Monte Carlo.

Jannik Sinner recently trained with Jack Draper in France and reflected on his time away from tennis due to the doping ban. Sinner found the experience beneficial, highlighting the positives of his break.

“I think at the beginning of the three months, it was quite nice,” Sinner said. “A bit of time away from all the grind, I spent time with family, with friends. I was doing new things and getting to know myself better, finding out where I stand. I think it helped me a lot.” The break allowed Sinner to recharge and focus on himself.
