According to Swedish outlet Sportbladet, Olsen's contract expiration could pave the way for his return to Malmo, marking a significant move for the experienced goalkeeper.
According to recent rumors, a return to Malmo or FC Copenhagen was considered, with the Danish club having a substantial offer rejected last summer. However, the call to return home seems to have prevailed. The 35-year-old is set to rejoin the club where he began his youth career and played professionally from 2012 to 2015.
Sources indicate that a deal has been agreed upon, but an official announcement will have to wait until the transfer window opens in July.
Robin Olsen hasn't played in the Allsvenskan since leaving Malmo FF in 2015. Since then, he's had stints with several clubs, including PAOK, Copenhagen, Roma, Cagliari, Everton, Sheffield United, and Aston Villa, where he's made 21 appearances as backup to Emiliano Martinez. This season, Olsen has made four appearances for Villa, including three in the Premier League.

Olsen recently earned his 76th cap for Sweden, surpassing the number of appearances he made for Malmo, with whom he won two Allsvenskan championships.
Malmo FF, where Olsen's potential return is rumored, has had a disappointing start to their 2025 title defense. They lost 2-0 to Hammarby, extending their winless streak to three matches. Currently, Brazilian goalkeeper Ricardo Friedrich is filling in for the injured Johan Dahlin, Olsen's former teammate at the club.
