Eintracht Frankfurt strengthened their Champions League hopes with a 4-0 thrashing of 10-man RB Leipzig, securing their third consecutive home shutout in the Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig's struggles continued after a disappointing draw against Holstein Kiel, with Benjamin Sesko's early effort forcing Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp to make a crucial save.
However, things soon got worse for the visitors when Frankfurt broke the deadlock in the 21st minute. Hugo Ekitike went on a driving run down the left before sliding the ball through to Ansgar Knauff in the centre, and he guided his second league goal of the season past Maarten Vandevoordt.

Knauff came close to doubling his tally five minutes before the break when Ekitike again teed him up from the left, but a crucial block from El Chadaille Bitshiabu kept Leipzig’s deficit at one, though that was enough for Die Adler to lead at the break as the visitors struggled to create opportunities.
RB Leipzig's hopes of a comeback were crushed just after halftime when they were reduced to 10 men. Bitshiabu's reckless challenge on Knauff earned him a red card, and Frankfurt capitalized on the opportunity. Knauff's volley from a parried free-kick sealed the second goal for Frankfurt.
Frankfurt continued to dominate, with Hugo Ekitike scoring his 15th league goal, heading in Jean-Matteo Bahoya's cross. This brought him level with Omar Marmoush as Frankfurt's top scorer this season.
Frankfurt sealed the win with Robin Koch's header from Jean-Matteo Bahoya's corner, making it 4-0. Leipzig's Lois Openda and Ridle Baku had late chances but couldn't score, extending their winless streak at Deutsche Bank Park to 10 matches.
The victory keeps Frankfurt on track for a top-three finish, a first since 1993, and establishes a six-point buffer in the Champions League qualification spots.
