EPL: Everton Denied Victory as Manchester United Fight Back for 2-2 Draw
Manchester United came from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw with Everton at Goodison Park, thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte.
Manchester United staged a dramatic late comeback to secure a 2-2 draw against in-form Everton at Goodison Park. Despite trailing by two goals at halftime, United battled back to earn a valuable point, which ensured Everton's unbeaten run in the Premier League under David Moyes extended to six matches.
Everton, riding high on their impressive form, dominated the early stages of the match, exerting relentless pressure on the United defense. The hosts created the first scoring opportunity when Beto nodded a header straight into the gloves of United goalkeeper Andre Onana. Although United briefly threatened with a couple of dangerous crosses, Everton's pressing eventually paid off.
The breakthrough came when Everton's Abdoulaye Doucoure headed the ball through a crowded penalty area to Beto, who volleyed it into the roof of the net past the helpless Onana. This was Beto's fifth goal in just four Premier League appearances, and it boosted Everton's momentum, leading to a second goal shortly after the half-hour mark.
Everton's second goal was a result of Beto's first-time cross, which was collected by Jack Harrison. Harrison's shot forced an incredible save from Onana, but Doucoure rose highest to meet the rebound and head the ball into the net. This goal seemed to have sealed the win for Everton, but United had other plans, staging a late comeback to earn a draw.
Manchester United struggled to respond to Everton's dominant first-half performance, and they were fortunate that Beto didn't score his second goal when Noussair Mazraoui made a crucial clearance from Abdoulaye Doucouré's cross. As the second half began, United showed slight improvement but still created limited scoring opportunities, relying on goalkeeper Andre Onana to deny Doucouré's volley.

The turning point came with 20 minutes remaining when Alejandro Garnacho won a free-kick on the edge of the area, allowing Bruno Fernandes to expertly wrong-foot Jordan Pickford and score into the far corner. This goal completely shifted the atmosphere at Goodison Park, and United seized the momentum to push for an equalizer. Within 10 minutes, they achieved their goal, thanks in part to another failed clearance from a set-piece, which allowed Manuel Ugarte to volley in from the edge of the area.
The equalizer sparked a chaotic finale, with Pickford making a crucial save to tip over Fernandes' strike and prevent United from completing their comeback. In the dying moments of the game, Everton thought they had been awarded a penalty when Ashley Young appeared to be pulled down by Matthijs de Ligt, but VAR intervened to overturn the decision, leaving the hosts disappointed at the final whistle. Despite the draw, Everton remains on an upward trajectory under David Moyes, while United's spirited comeback will provide optimism for manager Ruben Amorim.
