Donovan Mitchell scored 34 points to lead the short-handed Cleveland Cavaliers to a 126-106 NBA victory over the Miami Heat on Wednesday. Despite missing key players, including Darius Garland, Caris LeVert, and Isaac Okoro, the Cavaliers maintained their Eastern Conference lead over reigning champions Boston. Mitchell's performance helped Cleveland avenge a December 8 loss to the Heat.

The Cavaliers' victory was a team effort, with Evan Mobley scoring 22 points and pulling down 15 rebounds, and Ty Jerome adding 20 points off the bench. Cleveland connected on 54% of their shots from the field and committed just seven turnovers. The win improved the Cavaliers' record to 38-9, keeping them 5.5 games ahead of the Boston Celtics.
The Celtics, meanwhile, cruised to a 122-100 victory over the Chicago Bulls in Boston. Kristaps Porzingis led the way, drilling eight three-pointers on his way to 34 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals. Jaylen Brown added 28 points, six rebounds, and six assists, while Derrick White contributed 22 points. Jayson Tatum, who was questionable to start due to a sore knee, scored 16 points.

Porzingis set the tone for the Celtics, scoring 13 points in less than four minutes as Boston bolted to a 15-6 lead.
The New York Knicks, meanwhile, notched their fifth straight win with a 122-112 victory over the Denver Nuggets. Jalen Brunson fueled the Knicks with 30 points and 15 assists.

The Nuggets were led by Jamal Murray's 33 points, but NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic was in foul trouble early and finished with 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Denver slumped to their third straight defeat. OG Anunoby scored 23 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Knicks, who committed just six turnovers.
