Injury Forces Novak Djokovic to Pull Out of Serbia's Davis Cup Match
Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from Serbia's Davis Cup first-round qualifying tie against Denmark due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the Australian Open.
Novak Djokovic, the world number six, has withdrawn from Serbia's Davis Cup first-round qualifying tie due to an injury, according to the country's tennis federation (TSS). Djokovic was set to represent Serbia in their January 31 - February 2 meeting with Denmark in Copenhagen, but a hamstring injury he sustained during his Australian Open semi-final match against Alexander Zverev last week has forced him to pull out.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion was booed by the crowd at Melbourne Park after retiring from the match, and he responded by posting a photo of an MRI taken of his left hamstring on social media. The caption read: “Thought I'd leave this here for all the sports injury 'experts' out there.” This incident highlights the challenges Djokovic has faced recently, including his early exit from the Australian Open.

Djokovic has a rich history with the Davis Cup, having been part of the Serbian team that lifted the trophy in 2010 after a memorable victory over France in Belgrade. Serbia captain Viktor Troicki acknowledged that Djokovic's absence will be felt, saying: “We are weakened by not playing Novak, but we are still going for the win.” However, Troicki expressed confidence in his team, adding: “The Danes have a great player in Holger Rune, but our players are also great and I believe in my team.”
