Georgia Stanway Out for Several Months with Knee Ligament Injury

Bayern Munich and England midfielder Georgia Stanway will be out for several months after undergoing knee ligament surgery, dealing a blow to England's Euro 2024 preparations.

Bayern Munich's England midfielder Georgia Stanway has undergone knee ligament surgery, which will keep her out of action for several months, the club announced on Thursday. Stanway, 26, suffered a lateral collateral ligament tear in her right knee during training earlier in the week.

Bayern Munich confirmed the extent of Stanway's injury in a statement, saying, “The England international had an operation on Wednesday and will now be out for several months.” This significant setback could have a profound impact on England's preparations for the upcoming Euros in July, where they will be defending their title.

Stanway played a crucial role in England's success at Euro 2022, participating in every game. She also helped the team reach the women's World Cup final in 2023, where they ultimately finished as runners-up to Spain.
