NPF Unveils Cybercrime Reporting Platform
NPF introduces a new portal for reporting cybercrime
The Nigeria Police Force is stepping up its efforts to combat digital dangers by launching a new website for reporting cybercrime.
The previous site has been replaced with a new portal, which is managed by the NPF National Cybercrime Centre.
“The Nigeria Police Force is pleased to inform the general public of the launch of a new, more robust, and secure domain for reporting cybercrime-related offenses as part of our continued commitment to combating cybercrime and enhancing the safety and security of our digital space,” said ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a spokesperson for the force, in a statement on Thursday, May 30.
The former site [https://incb.npf.gov.ng], which should no longer be utilized, has been replaced by the new reporting platform, which may be accessible at [https://nccc.npf.gov.ng/ereport/signin].
The updated domain, according to the statement, is user-friendly and offers improved security to safeguard user information for effective reporting.
Additionally, it has enhanced response and tracking systems to guarantee prompt action on cases that are reported.
The general public is invited to use this forum to help Nigeria combat cybercrime.
He declared, “The upgraded domain includes enhanced security measures to protect user information and ensure confidentiality and is user-friendly for easy and efficient reporting of cybercrime incidents. It also includes improved tracking and response mechanisms to ensure timely and effective action on reported cases.”
The public is encouraged to report any cybercrime activity via this new tool by the Inspector General of Police.
Law enforcement's attempts to combat cybercrime in Nigeria and other countries can be greatly aided by vigilance and timely reporting.
Diverse perspectives have been expressed regarding the implementation of the Cybercrime Act of 2015.
The enactment of the Act will establish a comprehensive and integrated framework for Nigeria, encompassing institutional, legal, and regulatory structures to prevent, combat, detect, investigate, and prosecute cybercrimes, ensuring a unified approach to tackling cyber threats.
